Walk: Kawasaki Fruit Park

Last Thursday, April 12, after spending the morning driving to the nearest Costco to pick up some much-needed supplies I felt like I wanted to get outside for the rest of the day, it worked out, the afternoon weather turned out to be lovely; the excuse I needed to grab my camera and drag some people to the park with me.

Sakura tunnel; the cherry blossom trees along this road form a natural tunnel that later in the season when the wind blows the blossoms fall to the ground like pink snowflakes.

Elderly Couple; I wonder how many times in their long lives they have come to this small park to enjoy the cherry blossoms?

Spring repose; a number of people had the same idea as I had, visiting the park and relaxing under the cherry tree. Nearly everyone had a camera or camera phone

Greeted by a stranger; upon walking into the greenhouse I was confronted with this strange hanging plant (Jade vine)

Forest of ferns; I wish I had my macro lens with me when I found this stand of ferns in the greenhouse.

Violet clump; the path through the bamboo woods has many small clumps of violets

Shades of colour; I have been to this small amusement park on a number of occasions but not once had I noticed that the Ferris Wheel is actually like a giant colour wheel.

There are several parks, big and small, near where I live, so I feel quite fortunate to live in this area and to have had such a great Spring so far to get out and enjoy them.

    • In a couple more weeks that park will be even more beautiful, as will the greenhouses. Later in the summer the fruit trees, pears and apples, will be covered in fruit. Best of all, it’s near to my house and free to visit.
